Drawback of using pigtails for bonding cable screens

Electrically bond cable screens at both ends, to the metal enclosure of the equipment at each end, using metal saddleclamps or EMC glands (but never pigtails).

Pigtails always ruin the screening performance of cables, as does only bonding screens at one end.  Because the metal structures are cross-bonded and have low impedance, nearly all ground loop currents will flow in them, leaving very little to flow in the cable screens, so ‘ground loop’ problems (which anyway are caused by poorly designed electronics) should not occur.
