Traction Transformers
It is possible to house traction-transformers for 25kV, 50Hz and 15kV, 16.66Hz overhead supply, integrated with filter chokes for the traction inverter, together in the same bulkhead. These then provide a reliable supply for the traction inverters and also galvanic separation.
In addition to the traction supply, the heating and auxilliary services are powered from sparated windings. The thermal losses can be dissipated through an oil/water heat-exchanger or an air cooler.
