Variable Tubular Resistors
For higher power ratings (greater than 500W) a tubular resistor, with a sliding contact is normally used. Tubes can be connected in parallel to give higher current ratings. Using this technique REO has built variable resistors up to 27kW rated capacity. Series connection can also be used for higher resistance values.
