What should I do about portable radio transmitters?
Control portable radio transmitters.
Train personnel not to use walkie-talkies and cellphones in close proximity to man-machine interfaces and electronic equipment, ideally keep them at least 2m away.
Place warning signs if necessary. Vehicles can be fitted with more powerful radio transmitters so keep them at least 20m away. Beware of truckers who have fitted illegal power boosters to their CB radios.
If radio transmitters have to be used in close proximity, carefully check that the equipment operates correctly in all of its modes of operation when the transmitter is making a call and is as close as it can get, in all of its likely orientations.← Back to FAQs
