Pumping water from bore holes and to reservoirs after purification at Surrey Water's Woodman Stars Pumping Station is carried out using DC motor-driven pumps. A switch to electronically-controlled AC systems has been investigated but the cost of implementing this is considered prohibitive.
REO's latest range of water cooled potted chokes and transformers can increase the reliability and lifetime of electric motor and drive applications. In comparison, air cooled systems often have limitations, especially when the components must be compact. As a result, and to guarantee efficient cooling, REO developed its range of water cooled inductive and resistive components.
With a history spanning almost a century, the global REO team has built its success on quality manufacturing and the ability to adapt to the needs of control panel manufacturers, drives and motor manufacturers and systems integrators, whatever the economic and technical challenges. Here Michelle Gillam of REO UK explains where the UK team fits in.
REO UK has appointed Tim Cooke as business development manager. Tim, who for 16 years drove RS Components' sales leadership initiative after a successful period in account management, has also worked for Cray Electronics and Control Techniques.
Certification grants confirmation of certain characteristics of an organization, often but not always, provided by some form of external review or assessment.
PolyPrint Plastics of Nottingham installed a new £ 400,000 large format digital printer recently to meet the demands of the company's expanding business. Unfortunately, the excitement of having the new printer installed was dampened when the machine proved sensitive to variations in power supply, stopping with even small variations in voltage.
Electrical component manufacturer REO's logo will be proudly displayed on the running shirt of product support engineer Tim Newcombe at this year's Shrewsbury Marathon. The company based in Shropshire has supported Mr Newcombe in his personal challenge by providing funds for the cost of the race and supporting him in his training.
Another exhibition came to a successful end. We had many visitors on our stand at the swissT.fair, in particular export buyers from key companies expressed an interest in our product range. Discussions took place with key personnel from the automation and electronics industry.
REO has designed and manufactured chokes for testing switches in domestic applications to the international BS EN 61058-2-1 and BS EN 60669-2-1 standards. BS EN 61058-2-1 applies to switches for appliances with particular requirements for cord switches, while BS EN 60669-2-1 covers switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations with particular requirements of electronic switches.
The fair is aimed at interested professionals from the automation, electronics, mechanical engineering and plant construction industries.
