CUSTOM-ENGINEERED VOLTAGE STABILISER BUILT IN A WEEK STARTS RETURN ON ?400k INVESTMENT
PolyPrint Plastics of Nottingham installed a new £400,000 large format digital printer recently to fulfil the demands of the company’s expanding business. Unfortunately, the excitement of having the new printer installed was dampened when the machine proved sensitive to variations in power supply, stopping with even small variations in voltage.
Because PolyPrint uses a number of large machines, including digital and screen printing machines and guillotines, power supply regularly experienced surges in demand. With just 6V variances being enough to stop the new printer, these peak draws upon supply proved to be sufficient to stop the machine.
The solution was simple – a voltage stabiliser – and made easier thanks to REO (UK) who was able to supply a custom-engineered unit in under a week at a competitive price.
“Once the problem had been determined and the solution agreed we just needed a supplier”, said Nick Herrick, Director. “We found a number of potential suppliers via the internet but nobody could match REO’s delivery and the price was on a par with the rest, too. The short delivery time both amazed and pleased us because we could get our new printer to start making a return on our investment that much sooner.”
PolyPrint’s new digital printer gives the company the ability to handle stock up to 1.6 x 3.22 m in size, 40 mm thick and 40 kilos in weight. This complements the company’s existing digital and screen printing and ‘free standing display unit’ manufacturing services.
