REO leakage transformers filter harmonics and therefore ensure a limiting of the ripple current. Due to the spatial separation of the primary and secondary windings and the targeted enlargement of the magnetic stray field that is linked to it, a loose magnetic coupling is achieved with the REO leakage
transformer. In this way, the function of a transformer (voltage transformation and galvanic separation) and a sinusoidal filter choke are combined.
