MEDICAL ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS TO BE PRODUCED IN THE UK

In response to the ever-increasing drive for improvements in safety within the patient environment and consequent growing demand for appropriate patient support equipment, REO (UK) LTD is now producing Medical Isolation Transformers at its South Shropshire factory. This capability enables REO both to supply ex-stock and/or to manufacture on-demand in response to customer requirements.

For the moment, REO is focusing UK production on the most popular sizes of 300, 600 and 1000VA units, which will be delivered directly from its Craven Arms factory.

To ensure that each transformer conforms with the third edition of EN60601, the medical safety standard, REO has invested in a Secutest system that automatically measures all critical parameters such as the touch current (or enclosure leakage current), earth leakage current, single fault condition leakage currents, earth bonding and the dielectric strength of the electrical insulation. A test certificate is automatically printed and issued with each transformer

In addition, the standard range of medical transformers has now been tested by UL for compliance with the requirements of the North American market. REO group can also produce larger isolation transformers for use in operating theatres, for example.
